I founded Funding HQ because I believe every community organisation deserves the chance to succeed. Over the years, I’ve seen too many wonderful initiatives fail to reach their potential, not because of a lack of vision, but because fundraising felt overwhelming and inaccessible.
In New Zealand, the vast majority of available funding goes to a small amount of organisations. That imbalance leaves countless organisations under-resourced and at risk. Too many rely on one or two funders, which creates real vulnerability. Others get caught in a cycle of short-term, contestable grants that make it hard to plan for the future. And I’ve heard funders themselves say they feel forgotten, when what really builds lasting support is genuine care and attention.
